CM Revanth Reddy highlights Hyderabad’s role in defence sector at Vigyan Vaibhav-2025

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday participated in the Vigyan Vaibhav-2025 programme at Gachibowli, where he emphasised Hyderabad’s significant contributions to India’s defence sector.

Speaking at the event, he said Hyderabad has been a key hub for defence manufacturing for decades, housing major establishments like Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (Midani), and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). These units manufacture rockets and missiles, playing a crucial role in national security.

The Chief Minister said the exhibition was organised to inspire and educate students on patriotism and national defence responsibilities. He noted that over one lakh engineering graduates from Telangana, particularly in computer science, move to the US annually. The state aims to instil a sense of responsibility among them towards India’s defence sector.

He stressed the importance of generating skilled engineers for the country’s defence needs, beyond IT professionals migrating abroad. He also highlighted that Hyderabad and Bengaluru serve as key defence hubs and advocated for declaring them a Defence Industrial Corridor, which would attract substantial investments and boost startups, including rocket manufacturers like Skyroot. Revanth Reddy sought support and cooperation to strengthen India’s position as a global leader in defence production.
