Hyderabad: The State Government on Friday conferred famous writer and singer Goreti Venkanna with the Kaloji Narayana Rao award on the occasion of Kaloji’s 102nd birth anniversary fete here at Ravindra Bharati.
Kaloji’s birthday is celebrated as Telangana Language Day (Telangana Bhasha Dinosthavam). Kaloji was honoured with Padma Vibhushan award for his contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden and other social causes.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Speaker Madhusudhana chary, Ministers Nayanai Narsimha Reddy, Etela Rajendar and others paid floral tributes to portrait of Kaloji Rao on his birth anniversary.
The dignitaries paid tributes to the people’s poet recollecting his enormous contribution to literature in general and Telangana language in particular. (INN)
