Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has stressed the role of farm mechanization and increased its budget allocation to Rs. 426 crore this year from the existing Rs. 150 crore.
Talking about the farming practices in US & India, C. Parthasarathi, APC & Government Secretary, Govt. of Telangana, in his valedictory address said,
iThe Government of Telangana will focus more attention on the rejuvenation of farm ponds and water tanks for agriculture sector to improve productivity.”
Talking about making Telangana Seed Capital of India, Parthasarathi said that the government has accorded highest priority to quality seed production and government agencies from HACA are working on seed production initiatives.
The State Government plans to have Soyabean crop seed multiplication for self sufficiency with the help of Madhya Pradesh farmers for this Kharif season and plan to have it raised in Telangana to achieve self sufficiency, he said.
To encourage technology in agriculture sector, the Government plans to train 440 Mandal Agriculture Officers as agronomists.
The Government is working in close coordination to receive Rs. 1000 crore funding for micro-irrigation from NABARD.
The distribution of soil health cards for better nutrient management of farmers has scaled 4.9 lakh cards of the 10 lakh cards and the rest will be completed during the year,
he said at the event being organized by Kenes Exhibitions and Government of Telangana at HITEX Grounds, Hyderabad from September 8-10, 2016.
