Hyderabad: The State government on Sunday announced a new scholarship scheme for the students from Backward Classes to pursue higher education in foreign countries.
Named Mahatma Jyothirao Phule BC Overseas Scholarship, the scheme will help the BC students to get a financial aid of Rs 20 lakh for higher studies.
The government intends to extend the help to about 300 students in the first year and for this Rs 60 crore have been reserved for the purpose. Earlier the same scheme was available for SC, STs and minorities.
The state government has now extended the scholarship benefits to BCs also. (INN)
