Hyderabad: Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma on Thursday appealed all the Home Guards of Telangana State not to resort to agitations and demonstrations over their demands.
Asking them to rejoin their duties immediately, he warned of disciplinary action if they continue the agitation.
The DGP said some members of the Home Guards of Telangana State belonging to various units have resorted to agitations, demonstrations to pressurize the administration to accept their demands regarding additional remuneration and other welfare measures.
“ While the department understands their difficulties and is committed to improve their welfare, it is also reiterated that being disciplined uniformed organization it is not acceptable to resort to such pressure tactics.
The department assures that the matter will be taken up with the government to consider the genuine demands,” he said.
Anurag Sharma said that the matter was represented to the Chief Secretary and other senior officials by a delegation of Home guards who had promised to look into the demands and also recommend necessary measures.
He said that the Government of Telangana has been paying one of the highest remuneration in the entire country to their Home guards on a regular basis and also giving insurance coverage of Rs. 5 lakhs in case of death on duty.
Similarly, any Home guard who loses his life in extremist or terrorist violence, Rs.30.00 lakhs ex-gratia is also being paid to them. Besides this, several other measures are under consideration, he said. (INN)
