A three-day Badminton Championship began at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) Indoor Stadium in Ameerpet, Hyderabad on December 14, 2015.
During the inaugural ceremony, Minister for Commercial Taxes & Cinematography Sri Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that the Telangana government is giving more importance to sports activities and encouraging youth.
He further said that in the coming summer in all the play grounds, stadiums etc., summer coaching camps will be conducted, and the government is also encouraging the sports activities duly allotting more funds to take up the sports activities to the younger generation.
Speaking on the occasion, GHMC Commissioner & Special Officer Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that for the convenience of the citizens of the twin cities all play grounds, stadiums, will be working till 11:30PM in the coming days.
Most of the citizens were unable to utilize these stadiums and play grounds as they were preoccupied with their normal duties. Keeping in view of the health consciousness, working time has been extended to till late night.
Badminton Star Padmasri Sri Pullela Gopichand has praised the services rendered by the GHMC in sports activities for the youth.
Among other participants in the program were Sri Chamundeshwarinath, President, Hyderabad Badminton Association, Sri Gaurav Uppal, Zonal Commissioner (Central Zone).
