Minister assures 9-hour power supply for Yasangi crop

Hyderabad: Minister for Power Jagdish Reddy on Thursday said that the state government was providing uninterrupted quality nine hour power supply for the Yasangi crop.

Speaking at a review meeting on the nine hour power supply to farmers here, the minister said that the Telangana Government was providing 24 hour power supply to domestic and commercial users.

He said that there was 8,300 megawatts of power supply now and said that 9500 megawatt power supply would be required by March in the state.

He said that in order to supply nine hour power supply to farmers, 5500 megawatts of power was required.

The minister directed the officials to ensure that the power transformers are replace within 24-hours in case they fail due to overload.

He warned that the officials would be held responsible even if an acre of crop fails due to lack of irrigation water supply due to non-supply of power.

The minister assured farmers that their applications for power meters/ supply would be considered at the earliest and directed the farmers not to keep those applications pending. (INN)
