GHMC aims to plant 1 crore trees

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has appealed to the heads of all government departments and NGOs to join hands with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to achieve the target of plantation of 1 crore trees as part of Telangana Harithaharam programme.

According to the Commissioner, the corporation was able to plant nearly 84 lakh saplings last year due to the cooperation of various departments and NGOs.

This year too, he said that the GHMC hopes to make the programme a grand success. He said everyone should take equal responsibility not only for plantation of saplings, but also ensure their proper maintenance.

Dr. Janardhan Reddy has directed all the Zonal and Deputy Commissioners to conduct a meeting with heads of the departments and NGOs in their jurisdiction for effective implementation of plantation programme and also assign them targets to derive good results.

He also directed the officials to give top priority to survival rate of saplings. (INN)
