Top officials discuss facilities to be provided at Metro stations

Hyderabad: A convergence meeting of municipality, GHMC, HMRL, RTC and Traffic Police held on Wednesday discussed about the facilities to be provided at the various Metro stations in the city.

The meeting was chaired by Municipal Administration Secretary Navin Mittal. Mittal asked the HMR officials to explore the possibility of setting up underground parking facility due to scarcity of space.

He suggested that a joint visit of traffic, GHMC, HMRL and RTC departments should be held to personally review the arrangements being made at the metro stations

HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy said that parking facilities have been identified at 32 locations of which multi level parking is being proposed in 15 locations.

He said that steps are being formulated to make citizen services available at all the metro stations. The integration of MMTS services with Metro Rail services is also being done. He observed that certain government land parcels which are available near metro stations can be provided for parking facilities.

DCP traffic Ravinder said that clear parking place should be earmarked at all the metro stations and proper approaches to bus stations and bus bays should be developed so as to ensure that no crowding or congestion takes place at the parking places.

GHMC Commissioner Dr. B Janardhan Reddy, RTC Executive Director Purushottam and other officials attended the meeting. (INN)
