Meeting on safe, secured railway stations for passengers held

Hyderabad: The High Level Committee on improving the Safety, Security and convenience of Railway passengers met at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Monday and took some important decisions.

During the meeting, chaired by DGP (Railways and Road Safety) T. Krishna Prasad, it was decided to install 130 CCTV cameras in Secunderabad, 59 in Nampally and 29 in Kachiguda Stations.

It was also decided to install baggage scanners at entrance points; Design Master Plans for the Parking Management and Road Infrastructure inside Railway station premises; Enforce Lane Discipline inside Railway Station and Remove vehicles parked for long time inside Railway Stations.

It was also decided to regulate hawkers; Conduct regular coordination meetings with Railways, GHMC, RTC, Traffic Police for seamless movement of people and vehicles in and out of Railway Station and prevent harassment of passengers by auto drivers by installing pre booking facilities inside the Railway Stations.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Commercial Manager M G Shekharam, Jt CP Traffic V Ravinder, DCP Traffic LS Chouhan, IG RPF Sanjay and officers from Railways, Traffic Police, GRP, RPF, GHMC, HMDA, MRL and RTC. (INN)
