Prof. Appa Rao inaugurates new fitness centre at UoH

Hyderabad: Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has inaugurated new fitness centre on Monday at the Sports Complex in the University campus.

The fitness center was developed under the “Scheme for Development of Sports Infrastructure under UGC XII PLAN”. The cost of the project is Rs.1.4 crores approx.

in which the cost for the construction of the building of 4000 sq. ft. is around Rs. 80 lakhs and the cost of equipment is around Rs. 40 lakhs.

The equipment in fitness centre are international brands like Body Solid, Viva Fitness and California Fitness etc. Two individual stations for every muscle group is provided along with 10 cross trainers, 13 Tread mills of high end commercial ones.

Free weights zone is created separately providing more than 2000 kg as dumb bells, weight plates etc. Power lifting equipment is also housed in the fitness center.

Over all the new fitness center is one of the best fitness centers of Indian Universities with state of the art fitness equipment. Prof. B.P. Sanjay, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Shri. P. Sardar Singh, Registrar, Shri. M.G. Gunasekaran, Finance Officer, Prof. Prakash Babu, Dean Students Welfare, Dr. K.V. Rajasekhar, Assistant Director, Physical Education, faculty, students and staff were also present. (INN)
