TSWLC gives nod for SRDP projects at KBR park

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Wild Life Council has approved the Strategic Road Development Project. This will facilitate construction of six multi-level parks around KBR Park in the city.

The Council met at the State Secretariat on Saturday under the chairmanship of Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna. During the meeting, the Council members unanimously approved the SRDP and also passed a resolution which would be sent to the Central Wild Life Council.

It may be mentioned that several NGOs and wildlife activists had filed petition against the SRDP project before the National Green Tribunal. However, the Tribunal has permitted the construction of flyovers.

Addressing the Council meeting, Jogu Ramanna claimed that the SRDP project would not affect the KBR park. He said this would only ease movement of vehicular traffic.

The meeting was attended by Council members and MLAs G. Balaraju, Rathod Bapu Rao and K. Kanakaiah, Principal Secretary (Forests) Rajat Kumar, Tribal Welfare Commissioner Mahesh Dutt, GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy and other officials. (INN)
