Extension Lecture on Science of Teaching & Learning held at MANUU

Hyderabad: To make teaching-learning effective, all the senses of the learners should be involved in the learning process. Importance should be given to learner’s Mother Tongue. Dr. Qazi Siraj Azhar, Associate Clinical Professor, Michigan State University, USA said during an extension lecture “Science of Teaching & Science of Learning” yesterday at Agha Hashar Kashmiri Auditorium at Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU formally inaugurated the programme. The lecture was organized by School of Education & Training, MANUU.

While speaking about Neuroscience of Learning and Teaching, Dr. Qazi Siraj advised Trainee Teachers to understand the child’s brain while teaching. He also explained how the child’s brain works when he learns something.He emphasized Experiential learning, Project-based learning and pointed towards developing Intrinsic motivation among the students.

Prof. Ainul Hasan in his inaugural speech highlighted the significance of science in the world and stated that “Science is Everywhere”.

Prof. SM Rahmatullah, Pro-Vice-Chancellor in his address encouraged students to adopt a scientific perspective in the field of Education. Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Dean, School of Education and Training, introduced and welcomed the Key-note speaker.

Prof. SK Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar and Prof. Mohd. Moshahid, Head, Department of Education and Training, MANUU also shared the dais.

The department Assistant Professors –  Dr. Farhath Ali convened the lecture and Mr. Jahangir Alam proposed vote of thanks.

MANUU, SRC-Hyderabad shifted to Haj House

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Sub-Regional Centre of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Directorate of Distance Education has been shifted to new premises at Haj House, Nampally, Hyderabad.

According to Dr. M. Mazher Quadri, Assistant Regional Director,  the centre was shifted from old premises 4th BSNL Building, Charminar, Hyderabad to its new premises at Room No. 607, 6th Floor, Haj House Building, Opp. Public Garden, Nampally, Hyderabad – 500 001.

All students, coordinators and prospective learners may note the change in address.

MANUU extends the last date for admissions into PhD and Professional courses

Hyderabad: The last date for online submission of the application form for entrance-based regular courses at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has been extended upto June 12, 2022. Earlier, today was the last day for the online submission of applications.

According to Prof. M. Vanaja, Director, Directorate of Admissions, considering the representations received from stakeholders from all over the country the date for submission of the application form has been extended. However, entrance tests will be held as scheduled on 5th, 6th and 7th July 2022.

Admissions are available for Ph.D programmes (Arabic, Urdu, English, Hindi, Persian, Translation Studies; Women Studies, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Work, Islamic Studies, History, Economics, Sociology, Deccan Studies; Education; Journalism & Mass Communication; Management, Commerce, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology & Computer Science); M.Tech (Computer Science); MCA; MBA; M.Ed; B.Ed; D.El.Ed and Polytechnic Diplomas (Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Automobile and Apparel Technologies).

Orientation Programme on 21st Century Skills for teachers at MANUU

Hyderabad: Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers (CPDUMT), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing one day orientation program “21st Century Skills for Teachers”on June 8 at MANUU Campus, Hyderabad. The programme will also be held at MANUU’s College of Teacher Education Aurangabad and Bidar on June 22 and July 14 respectively.

Submission of exam form begins for distance courses at MANUU

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has waived off exam fees for backlog papers of UG, PG, Diploma (Annual Mode) & Certificate courses. Exam forms can be submitted upto June 09, 2022.

According to Prof. Mohd. Razaullah Khan, Director I/c, 2018 Annual batch (BA, BCom, BSc) students are not required to fill the backlog form for the current year whereas for 2017 and earlier batches the backlog exam form filling is manual as per the earlier existing practice.

For improvement exams, the students have to pay fee of Rs. 500 per paper for UG courses and Rs. 750/- per paper for PG courses.

National Conference on ‘Gender & Inclusion: a focus on Muslim Women’ at MANUU

Hyderabad: The Centre for Women Studies (CWS) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with the Centre for Development Policy and Practice (CDPP) Hyderabad is organizing a National Conference on “Gender and Inclusion: a focus on Muslim Women” from June 6 to 8, 2022 at Saiyid Hamid Central Library Auditorium, MANUU.

According to Prof. Shahida, Director, CWS, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU will chair the panel discussion scheduled to be held on June 8, 2.00 pm and Prof. Amitabh Kundu, distinguished fellow, Research & Information System (RIS) for developing countries will speak on the topic  “Inclusion in the Labor Market”.P C Mohanan, Former Member, National Statistical Commission and Prof. Abdul Shaban, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) are the panellists.

Prof. Shahida will deliver an address on “Gender Studies: The way forward” and Nahia Hussain, Vice President (Public Policy), CDPP will speak on “Gender in the Development Agenda” in the opening session of the conference on June 6, 10.00 am.  In the first panel discussion, Ghazala Wahab, Author and Executive Editor, FORCE will deliver a keynote address on “Born a Muslim Woman” whereas Prof. Farida Siddiqui, Dean, School of Arts & Social Sciences, MANUU will deliver an address on “Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Research on Social Issues”. Prof. Amir Ullah Khan, Research Director, CDPP is the moderator.

Various distinguished personalities and academicians are the panellists and moderators for the other panel discussions scheduled to be held during the conference. Papers will also be presented on the second day of the conference. A special session on “Working with Muslim Women: A Civil Society Perspective” will be held at Lamaakan, Banjara Hills on June 7 at 6.00 pm.

MANUU announces ‘Video Documentary’ competition on Urdu Journalism

Hyderabad: The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Maulana Azad National Urdu University is organizing various competitions and events throughout the year as part of  ‘Bicentenary Celebrations of Urdu Journalism’ under the title “Karwaan-e-Urdu Sahafat – Celebrating 200 years of Urdu Journalism: 1822 -2022”. The ‘Video Documentary Film Competition’ is one of these events for which entries are open from May 30 to October 15, 2022. The participants can submit their entries through the Google Form link https://forms.gle/kt1ukX4rchjKvnEJ8.

The best documentary film will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- in the valedictory function of Bicentenary Celebrations in the month of November 2022 and best video documentary films will also be screened on occasion.

According to Prof. Ehtesham Ahmed Khan, Dean, School of MCJ, Students pursuing Journalism and Mass Communication courses from any College, State or Central Universities, Documentary Filmmakers, Media Professionals or any individual/film enthusiast can participate in the competition.  The competition will provide students, media professionals, and amateur journalists to make video documentaries on the contribution of Urdu Journalism in the freedom movement, social and political reforms, its development in different regions, the sacrifices of eminent personalities and covering a variety of issues that reflects past and present scenario, he said.

These Films will be shared on ‘Social Media and will also be stored on a dedicated ‘Website’ of ‘Bicentenary Celebrations of Urdu Journalism’ going to be launched in the month of October 2022, so, that the future generations may get benefited.

The participants must prepare a Good Script and may choose an appropriate /innovative Title of their Video. MANUU signs MoU with IIMC, Delhi for strengthening Research in Urdu Journalism

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with  India’s premier Journalism Institute – Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi for sharing of knowledge, resources and research activities.

The MoU was signed today by Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU and Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi, Director General, IIMC in a formal ceremony held at IIMC.

While welcoming the MoU, Prof. Ainul Hasan stressed the need to focus on the cluster system where two institutions can run joint programmes and offer joint degrees. He hoped that the IIMC and MANUU would definitely think in this direction. He assured that the MANUU would ensure every possible help in any such endeavour.

Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi in his address said that MoU would help the IIMC Urdu students to pursue their masters in journalism and mass communication at MANUU. Though Urdu media has a global presence, it needs to expand its horizon more on the digital world. Translation can also play a key role in it.

Prof. S K Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU described the MoU as a historic step to promote Urdu Journalism in India. MANUU Students will be largely benefitted, he hoped.

The MoU will benefit both the organizations mutually. They will identify and invite faculty members from both parties to participate in academic and/or research programmes and will also exchange faculty members for training/capacity building.

The MoU valid for three years will facilitate the advancement of knowledge by exchanging faculty, non-teaching staff members, research scholars and students as well as exchanging documentation, scientific information and publications. MANUU starts admission process, introduces two new programmes

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has started online admission process for regular mode Ph.D., Post-Graduate, B.Ed. and Diploma/Certificate programmes offered at Hyderabad Main Campus, Satellite Campuses, Colleges of Teacher Education (CTEs) and Polytechnics for the Academic year 2022-2023.

University has introduced two new programmes, PhD Deccan Studies and MA in Legal Studies from the new academic year. It has also launched new certificate courses in Pashto, French and Russian.

According to a notification released by Prof. Sk. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, last date for submission of online application for entrance based courses is 01.06.2022 whereas online application for merit based courses can be submitted till 30.08.2022. The medium of Instruction and examination for all courses is Urdu only.

The entrance based courses include all Ph.Ds; M.Tech (Computer Science); MCA; MBA; M.Ed; B.Ed; D.El.Ed and Polytechnic Diplomas (Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Automobile and Apparel Technologies). The Ph.D. programmes are being offered in Arabic, Urdu, English, Hindi, Persian, Translation Studies; Women Studies, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Work, Islamic Studies, History, Economics, Sociology, Deccan Studies; Education; Journalism & Mass Communication; Management, Commerce, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology & Computer Science.

MANUU receives rare Urdu translation of ‘Sukh Sagar”

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has received a rare Urdu translation of holy book “Sukh Sagar” (Shrimad Bhagwat Puran) donated by Mr. Ramula Prahlad Reddy. He presented the book to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan recently.

Mr. Reddy, a resident of Rajapur District, Mahbubnagar, Telangana is a retired Headmaster and an admirer of Urdu language. He said that only Urdu University can preserve this rare almost 100 year old copy. Prof. Ainul Hasan appreciated Mr. Prahlad Reddy’s gesture.

Mr. Abrar Ahmed, Assistant Registrar coordinated the activity. Mr. Reddy’s family members were also present.
