Health Minister Harish Rao inaugurates Paediatric Heart Surgery Unit at NIMS

Hyderabad: Rotary club of Jubilee Hills and SUVEN Life Sciences have set up s State of the Art Paediatric Heart Surgery Unit at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS),Hyderabad.

It is set up at an investment of Rs 4crore, CSR funds by Suven Pharma. The facility is expected to benefit 750 kids annually. The Paediatric Heart Surgeries will be performed free of cost.

Sri Thanneeru Harish Rao, Hon. Minister for Finance, Health, Medical & Family Welfare, Govt. of Telangana inaugurated this fully furnished modular 6 bedded Cardiothoracic ICU, Including a Class-l Air- conditioned isolation clean room suitable for Heart Transplant facility is equipped with high-end Heart-Lung Machine, ECHO, Nitric Oxide delivery, Bronchoscope, Infant Warmer beds to name a few.

Sri Venkat Jasti, Chairman and MD ‘s SUVEN Pharmaceuticals Limited provided CSR funds of close to Rs 4 Cr for this Facility to address Congenital Heart Diseases, prevalent in under nourished populace of rural villages.

IMT Hyderabad inaugurates ABHYUDAY 2022 – Management Orientation Program

MVSR Engineering College receives NBA recognition

MVSR Engineering College, Nadergul secured National Board of Accreditation (NBA) recognition again, reflecting its consistent efforts in education and learning methodologies

Members of NBA inspection jury visited the college during May 2022 and evaluated the college performance in six (6) different courses offered here. These six courses were subsequently granted NBA accreditation for up to 2025.

The evaluated courses are Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering departments.

Mathru Shri Education Society chairman Dr. K P Srinivas Rao on this occasion stated that this was the result of hard work by the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. Coin Museum opened at Saifabad Mint

Hyderabad: The long-cherished dream of Hyderabad Citizens fructified, as India Government Mint, a Unit of SPMCIL opened the doors of the Saifabad Mint after converting a part to a Museum and dedicated the same to the Nation on the occasion of 75 years of independence.

The Museum will be open for the public from 8th June till 13th June from 10 AM to 5 PM. Rare coins and currency printed at the Saifabad Mint will be showcased at the museum. Besides, machinery used for minting coins and currency during the Nizam-era will also be on display. As per the directions of the Government of India, the Ministry of Finance, Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav celebrations are being held by SPMCIL from 6th June to 13th June, in all the Units of SPMCIL.

Saifabad Mint Museum beautifully depicts the History of Mints. The collections include the first Rupiya Coin issued by Sher Shah Suri, History of IGM, Hyderabad, and History of the Mints under the Government of India, the Asaf Jahi coins, and a photo collection of Glimpses of Old Mint Memories. The Museum presents Coins based on shapes and Coins made from Metals of different types. The Museum possesses the precious Die striking stone that enabled punch-marked coin way back in 1803 at Sultan Sahi. The Focus of the display is on Republic India coinage, Commemorative coinage, and the Minting process presented through a lively video so that you can see how a Mint works.

Saifabad Mint is a pride for the Deccan heritage as it excelled in making coins, notes, stamps, and other engineering items, setting the first stage of industrialisation, dating back to 1903. Mir Mahboob Ali Khan (1869-1911), the Sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, established this Mint similar to the European Mints in 1903. Hyderabad was the only native state in India that enjoyed the privilege of coinage in India. Saifabad Mint was the epicenter for the Minting of Coins, holding a special place in the history of India, known for its exceptional calligraphic quality.The architecture and functionality of the Saifabad Mint are unique for their structural stability. The old gun barrels decorate the entranceways. The columns are made of steel with beautiful carvings. This Monument of Engineering had woven into the life and economy of Deccan. The sweat and blood of hundreds of employees made it happen with tremendous dedication. This is the first living Mint Technology Museum in the country, which has the Old Machines from 1903 vintage in European style that made the best coins known for Calligraphic quality. (INN)

Opportunity to visit Ocean Laboratories in Hyderabad on June 5

Hyderabad: World Environment Day celebrated every year on 5 June since 1973, is described as “a global platform for inspiring positive change” led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). It is now the largest global environmental event, with millions of people in more than 150 countries including India participating to protect the planet.

The idea to celebrate this day is to engage “governments, businesses, civil society, schools, celebrities, cities, and communities in raising awareness related to the environment and how to protect it”. This year’s World Environment Day is special as it marks 50 years of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden in 1972. The 1972 Stockholm Conference is the first international meeting on the environment and spurred the formation of environment ministries and agencies around the world including the formation of UNEP. Every year World Environment Day is hosted by a different country, in which official celebrations take place. World Environment Day for 2022 is hosted by Sweden. This year’s World Environment Day theme is “Only One Earth”. It focuses on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”.On this occasion, INCOIS too will celebrate World Environment Day on 5 June as Open Day. As a part of this, students and citizens are welcome to visit the INCOIS facilities and various labs from 10 AM to 1 PM. Switzerland headquartered Ferring Pharma announces Eur 60 Mn expansion plans for Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Ferring Pharma has announced the establishment of another formulation unit in India at Hyderabad for manufacturing of its product called Pentasa (Mesalazine). Ferring will invest approximately €60M over the next 2-3 years for establishing this manufacturing facility. Pentasa (Mesalazine) is a Ferring product used for the treatment and long-term management of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) including Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease.  It is prescribed to treat the mild to moderate symptoms of active IBD as well as used widely as maintenance therapy to reduce the risk of recurrent attacks.

Pentasa is available orally as tablets and granules (sachets) within Europe and the rest of the world, with the exception of the US. In the US, Shire US, Inc. sells Pentasa under a trademark license from Ferring. Ferring produces the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), Mesalazine, at two of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities – in Denmark and in India, near Mumbai. As of 2020 (QYResearch), Ferring was the largest Mesalazine producer in the world. At present, Ferring has only one formulation unit for producing Pentasa in St. Prex, Switzerland and now Ferring has decided to establish another formulation unit at Hyderabad (Ferring Laboratories Pvt. Ltd.).

Hyderabad emerges as the second-largest base for Swiss headquartered Novartis

Hyderabad/Davos: Minister for IT and Industries K.T. Rama Rao met with Vasant Narasimhan, Chief Executive Officer, Novartis on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum to discuss the growth witnessed by Novartis in Telangana and their expansion plans. Novartis is a Swiss multinational pharmaceutical corporation based in Basel, Switzerland. It is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

The Minister noted that with nearly 9000 associates, Novartis Hyderabad grows into the second-largest location for the company, after their headquarters in Basel, based on the headcount. Spanish multi-national Chemo to invest about Rs. 100 Cr in their Hyderabad site

Hyderabad): Spain headquartered Chemo Pharma has announced an investment of over Rs. 100 crores in the creation of the second line in their production area in Hyderabad for the production of pharmaceutical finished dosage forms. In 2021, the company has established additional QC and Stability Labs in their facility in Hyderabad and now is gearing towards commencing commercial operations utilizing upcoming line 2 in production.

The company is also planning to initiate a new Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient and R&D Centre in Hyderabad along with continuing new product development activities in solids and injectables in Genome Valley, Hyderabad.

The announcement was made after Minister KT Rama Rao’s meeting with the leadership of Chemo Group- Dr. Jean Daniel Bonny, R&D Director – Pharmaceuticals Generics Business at World Economic Forum, Davos. Chemo India Formulation started its operations in Genome Valley, Hyderabad in 2018 with the Research, development and manufacturing of pharmaceutical finished dosage forms with specialisation in oral dosage formulations. Since then, the company has witnessed tremendous growth and invested around 170 crores till now along with employment creation of around 270 people.

Dr. Jean briefed the Minister that Chemo India Formulation has been making significant contributions to global operations. The company has taken up around 25 new development projects in solids and 12 new development projects in injectables. Some of the products are getting approvals in the EU region and the entity in Spain is now working towards commercializing some of these products.  A global stability program has also been initiated in Chemo India and the installed capacity is 800 samples per month. Going forward, Chemo India Formulation will work toward strengthening the global stability program and continue to add value to global operations.
