Hyderabad: Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao on Wednesday said the State Government was taking up the construction of one lakh double bedroom houses at a cost of Rs.9714 crore.
After formally inaugurating 324 2BHK houses at Jai Bhavani Nagar in Vanasthalipuram here the Minister said that no other state or city in the country was taking up such a massive housing program as was being done in Hyderabad.
The 324 houses were built at a cost of Rs.28 crore, he said, congratulating the beneficiaries and asking them to provide their homes with sanitation and maintenance.
For each home, the government has spent around Rs.9 lakh, whereas the market value of the same unit can vary from Rs.40 lakh to Rs.50 lakh.
House owners were responsible for keeping the common area clean and not throwing garbage. It was necessary to ensure cleanliness on the premises with the Covid-19 pandemic still a hazard, he said.
On a ‘cellar+stilt +9 floors’ plan, the 324 houses were built in three blocks.
The site’s facilities include structures for rain harvesting, fire safety systems, lightning arresting systems, and elevators, among others. (INN)
