Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that the consumers must have the Aadhar authentication to avail the benefit of free drinking water supply scheme.
The minister was replying to a question raised by TRS MLC M.S. Prabhakar Rao and Bodakunti Venkateswarlu during Question Hour in Legislative Council on Monday.
Minister KTR said that the State Government has issued G.O.Ms. No. 211 on December 2, 2020, to provide drinking water at free of cost to all domestic category households up to 20,000 litres per month to all the consumers with the jurisdiction of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).
However, he said the consumers shall have the Aadhar authentication to avail the benefit of the scheme. He said about 9.85 lakh households were likely to be benefited under this scheme.
The Minister also informed that the quantum of expenditure or revenue shortfall incurred by way of reduction of monthly water charges for 20,000 litres of all domestic category consumers depends on the actual number of connections availing the benefit and is likely to be around Rs. 40 crores per month.
