Oakridge International School continues to be a trend-setter in education sector in Hyderabad with “first of its kind” programs in several areas. The recent instance being the hosting of summer courses by world renowned academicians from the famous Universities of Oxford and Columbia.
The elite summer courses offered by these two Universities were recently concluded, 2016 and proved to be a lifetime experience for kids of grade 9-12.
Both the courses were well received by the young talent pool of Hyderabad. While the “Oxford summer course” was a 10-day rigorous learning program, the “Columbia Business School Global Entrepreneurship and Innovations (GEP) program” was a 5-day course. Both prestigious schools offered programs to students that spanned subjects that are generally offered at University level.
From dabbling in subjects like Economics, Business creative writing, Computer Science to participating in interactive sessions and inter-disciplinary seminars with the honorary school’s educators, the Oxford program offered a course that was truly a class apart. There were various interactive activities like formal debates, Oxford themed treasure hunt, rounder’s and touch rugby.
Columbia GEP program too struck a high chord with students by allowing them to sample the life of a real entrepreneur through an intensive program and interactions with successful entrepreneurs. The children learnt about the much needed art of entrepreneurship, coupled with its practical applications in real life startups.
Prof. Daniel McQuade, Director of the Venture for All, Columbia Business school was extremely impressed with the entrepreneurial mindset of the students and commented, “Indians have an inherent entrepreneurial streak, which is now coming to the fore, especially after the government’s efforts to ease the process of starting a venture. Moreover, the skills picked up by the students during the program are going to help them in making well thought out and balanced life decisions as well.”
“These programs are our effort to bring the best of global universities to our students and expose them to a range of experiences, which would enable them to become future global leaders. We will continue partnering with the best in the world, for the betterment of the students.” said Mr. Devidutta Kanungo, Head Supplementary education, Oakridge International School.
