BJP owe an apology to people of Telangana: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Bharatiya Janta Party owe an apology to the people of Telangana for not implementing the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the visit of BJP National President Amit Shah was only aimed at grabbing power in Telangana State.

He said that the BJP Government at the Centre has completely neglected Telangana during the last three years.

However, in view of next Assembly elections, Amit Shah is visiting the State. He said that the Central Government did not implement the promises of bifurcating High Court, ITIR Region, Tribal University, Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet and Byyaram Steel Plant.

He said Telangana was subjected to continued negligence during the last three years and it was not given its due share in funds and other Central schemes. Therefore, Amit Shah should have apologised to the people of Telangana before beginning his tour aimed at political gains.

Uttam Kumar Reddy feared that Amit Shah might play communal politics in Telangana. He said that the BJP has gained notoriety for winning elections by creating divide among Hindus and Muslims and it could try to adopt the same strategy in Telangana too.

However, he said people of Telangana would foil such attempts by the BJP leaders.

The TPCC Chief also condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s plans to construct the new Secretariat at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

He said that the Congress party would strongly oppose the move. He said instead of attending to several major problems being confronted by the people, KCR was giving importance to construction of new Secretariat building. (INN)
