Book Exhibition on Maulana Azad Inaugurated at MANUU

Hyderabad: A book exhibition dedicated to First Education Minister of Independent India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was inaugurated today at Saiyid Hamid Central Library, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Campus.

The exhibition is part of ongoing Azad Day Celebrations. Prof. Ayub Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, inaugurated the display of books written by Maulana Azad and on him.

He paid rich tributes to the legendary freedom fighter and reminded that the institutions established by Maulana Azad are still playing an important role in the education system of the country. Dr. Mohammed Abbas Khan, Deputy Librarian and Co-ordinator welcomed the guests. The exhibition will continue till 8 th November.

Earlier, a Bait Bazi (Literary Antakshri) was held at DDE Auditorium in the afternoon of 5 th November. 14 teams, each consisting of three members and named after one eminent poet, participated. Team Kishwar Naheed, consisting of Arshia Tanzeem, Zille Huma and Ayesha Habeeb, was the winner.

Team Parveen Shakir, (Razia Farooqi, Safura Kausar and Sayeeda Alam) stood second. Team named after Harichand Akhtar (Ahmad Sufiyan, Sameena Kausar and Asma), came third. Mohammed Abdul Azeem (Quality couplets), Mohd. Sadiq (Style of presentation) and Mohd. Alam (most number of couplets) won individual prizes. Prof. Mohammed Abdul Sami Siddiqui and Dr. Mosarrat Jahan were the judges.

Mr. Imtiaz Alam was the coordinator of the event. Dr. Bi Bi Raza Khatoon, Dr. Qaiser Alam, Dr. Zafar Gulzar and Dr. Mohd. Atif supervised the arrangements.
