Hyderabad: Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao interacted with Municipal Commissioners of Hyderabad Urban Agglomeration (HUA) within Outer Ring Road at a training program at MCR HRD in Hyderabad.
Minister KTR stated that the government has brought in new policies to decentralise the administration across the State to take the administration closer to the public.
He also mentioned that the Government has increased the number of districts, revenue divisions, mandals and municipal corporations in the state as a part of the decentralisation.
The Minister asked the officials to formulate a 30-year-future plan for every town, keeping in mind the increasing population. He stated that a majority of the population in Telangana will be living in its towns in the coming years.
KTR stated that providing essential services to the growing population has been the top most priority of the Telangana government and it has chosen administration decentralization as a tool for the same.
Minister KTR said that the number of municipalities were increased to 141. He also mentioned that these municipalities were funded sufficiently for faster development.
Minister also stated that every municipality should come up with innovative revenue generation methods. Minister asked the officials to prepare a water audit for every municipality to provide drinking water supply.
Minister KTR asked the officials to pay utmost importance to sanitation and cleanliness in the towns and cities. He called for futuristic development of the municipalities surrounding Hyderabad.
Before he began his address, Minister KTR paid floral tributes to “Abhyudaya Kavi” Daasaradhi Krishnamacharya, on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
In this event, the minister inaugurated an App related to the cleanliness programs in all the municipalities. (INN)
