Hyderabad: Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Wednesday said that the State Government was readying a massive plan to take up laying of roads and underground drainage system in the city.
Speaking to media persons, KTR said that the government would take up the road and drainage works by spending funds to the tune of Rs 25,000-crore to upgrade the basic infrastructure in the capital city.
The minister said that it was also decided to remove the division system under the GHMC.
Stating that the main reason for not dividing Hyderabad district was that there was not much use of the revenue divisions in the Hyderabad district. He said that the government has decided to decentralize the GHMC by increasing the number of circles to 30.
Stating that the state government took up reoganisation of districts for administrative ease, the minister listed the benefits of creating new districts.
He said that the more new districts will help in easy and transparent governance, a boost to second cadre leadership, removal of the feudal system and efficient implementation of government programmes.
The minister also expressed hope that delimitation of Assembly constituencies will be done and that there was no need for an amendment to the Constitution for this.
A simple majority in the Parliament was sufficient for taking up delimitation of the Assembly constituencies in the state, he said. (INN)
