Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had a meeting with the Home Guards and announced several measures including the hike in their salaries.
The Chief Minister has decided to increase the monthly salary of Home Guards from present Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 20,000. He also announced annual increment of Rs. 1,000, Double Bed Room houses, Health insurance for the families and 30% additional allowance to the Home Guards working in Traffic Department like the Police.
On par with Police Constables, Home Guards will also get four pairs of uniform per year. Lady Home Guards will get 6 months maternity leave while male home guards will get 15 days paternity leave. Home Guards on Bandobast duty will get diet allowance on par with the police constables.
KCR also increased the amount for last rites from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000. Home guards will be entitled to get treatment in the police hospitals like the constables.
The Chief Minister also increased the quota for Home Guards in Constables’ recruitment. For TSSP, it has been increased from present 10% to 25%; Armed Reserve – 5% – 15%; Civil – 8% – 15%; PTO (Drivers) – 2 – 20%; Mechanics – 2% – 10%; SPF – 5% – 25%; Fire Services – 10% – 25%; SARCPL – 5% – 25% and in Police Communications, the quota has been increased from present 2% to 10%.
DGP thanks the CM
DGP Mahender Reddy thanked the Chief Minister for taking several welfare measures including the salary hike of the Home Guards. The DGP said the CM understood the problems of the Home Guards who are working with meager salaries and responded in a humanitarian way and took historic decisions. He said the Telangana government has always taken measures for strengthening the police network and in the process solved the problems faced by the Home Guards. (INN)
