CM KCR to launch Rythu Bhima Scheme on Aug 15

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the officials concerned, that the prestigious ‘Rythu Bhima Scheme’ to be launched from 15th August, shall be implemented effectively.

The CM described that the Rythu Bhima Scheme, is the largest insurance scheme in the world and gives confidence to the families of farmer. CM said, that, whatever might be the reason, due to which a farmer whose life is insured, dies, his family shall be paid Rs. 5,00,000 towards insurance amount within 10 days after his death.

CM made it clear that, effective mechanism should be developed so as to reach the insurance amount cheque to the farmer as per the schedule within 10 days after the death occurs. CM also made it clear that the responsibility in the process of reaching the insurance amount to the family lies with the Agriculture Extension Officer and Panchayat Secretary.

He said, that, these two should work in close cooperation and see that the eligible farmers family gets the cheque in time. CM also said, that, the death certificate of the deceased farmer shall be given by the panchayath raj secretary within 48 hours on his death.

Ministers Jagadish Reddy, Mahender Reddy, MLCs PallaRajeshwar Reddy, MLAs Diwakar Rao, Ala Venkateshwar Reddy, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Parthasarathy, Commissioner Jagan Mohan Rao, Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Vikas Raj, Commissioner Neetu Prasad, CMO officer BhoopalReddy, participated in the meeting on Friday in Pragathi Bhavan.

The Chief Minister explained in detail to the officers the phase wise and step wise activities to be taken up for handing over the Rythu Bhima insurance cheque as well as machinery required.

CM has also said about who should register the details of the farmer on his death, to whom the information to be reached first, how to inform the LIC, role of Agriculture Extension officers, role of panchayat raj secretary and the roll of members of the Rythu Samanvaya Samithies.

CM said, that, “we are launching the largest insurance scheme benefitting 28 lakh farmers with Rs 636 crore premium. Details of eligible farmers who are insured should be available in the computer of Agriculture Extension Officer.

Since the scheme is coming into effect from August 14th midnight, any farmer who dies after that, his family shall be given Rs. 5,00,000 within 10 days. For this purpose, to implement the action plan necessary mechanism should be established. In providing the information of the farmer on his death to the Agriculture Extension Officer, the members of the Rythu Samanvaya Samithi should play a key role.

For giving the death certificate of the farmer who dies, the responsibility lies with the panchayath raj secretary. The Agriculture Extension Officer on gathering the information should forward to the District Agriculture Officer who in turn sends it to the LIC.

The LIC has already made arrangements of special cells for this purpose. As such within the stipulated time the insurance cheques will reach the farmers family. It is the responsibility of Agriculture department to see that the whole process is done smoothly and for this the Panchayat Raj department will have to extend its support.

The Chief Minister said, that, those eligible farmers who have not yet registered their names should do so immediately and once if they do it the government will make the premium payment.
