CM reviews rain situation

Karimnagar: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said that the incessant rains have filled all the tanks in the state and that there was no loss reports of any causalities in the state.

Speaking at a review meeting at the district Collectorate here on Monday, the Chief Minister said that the state has received sufficient rains for the season and there was no threat for the Rabi crop.

Stating that that the incessant rains have damaged the Kharif crop to an extent, he assured the farmers of all help for the loss.

KCR said that the state government would call for new tenders for mid-manair project’s left canal works saying that the tardy works by the current contractor on the left canal on the project have led to damage due to breaching.

The Lower Manair Dam still has the capacity to hold 3 TMCs of water, he added.

The Chief Minister said that in the past to the incessant rains, thousand of tanks were breached, but thanks to the Mission Kakatiya that increased the holding capacity of tanks, the tanks breaches were just around 100.

Even the tanks are those where the Mission Kakatiya works were not taken up.

KCR said that the state government had shifted people living in low-lying areas to relief camps and assured that all help would be extended to them besides monetary compensation.

He said that the state government would take up the repairs of roads damaged due to heavy rains over the week very soon.

Ministers Harish Rao, Etela Rajendar, District Collector Nitu Kumari Prasad, MP Balka Suman, MLAs of the district and officials of various departments were present. (INN)
