Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Spokesperson Dr. Sravan Dasoju challenged Minister K. Tarakarama Rao to ask for reasons from Osmania University students why KCR Government deserves to be voted out in next elections.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Sravan pointed out that KTR, in his latest interview with a daily newspaper, had asked why opposition parties wanted to dethrone KCR Government.
He said that the opposition parties need not answer KTR’s question as even a 4-year-old child knows the answer why TRS deserves to be voted out. He said nearly 45 lakh youth of Telangana, who dreamt of getting a job in Telangana State, would give a perfect answer to KTR’s question.
Similarly, the families of over 4,500 farmers who committed suicide will tell KTR as to why TRS Government should not get re-elected. He said everyone including intellectuals, poor people who expected double bed room houses or Muslims and STs who trusted KCR’s promise on 12% reservation, can provide a right answer to KTR.
Sravan dared KTR to visit Osmania University and ask the same question with students on why TRS Government does not qualify to be voted again.
He has also ridiculed Minister K. Tarakarama Rao’s remarks wherein he accused the Congress party of causing obstructions in the construction of irrigation projects.
Sravan said that the Congress party was ready for an open debate with KTR either at Telangana Bhavan or Gandhi Bhavan on the issue. He said it was ridiculous on the part of the KTR to accuse Congress of filing cases in various courts to stop the irrigation projects.
He said Congress never opposed the construction of any irrigation project in Telangana. He said if Congress was against irrigation projects then mega projects like Nizam Sagar, Sriram Sagar, Alampally Project, Pranahita Chevella project would never have become a reality.
He said Congress party only objected to forced acquisition of lakhs of acres of land belonging to poor Dalits and Girijans by the TRS Government in the name of irrigation projects. He said people who were affected due to forcible land acquisition approached the court seeking justice.
He said the Congress party has advocated payment of compensation to the affected people as per the Central Land Acquisition Act 2013. However, the TRS Government did total injustice with poor people by acquiring their lands through illegal and unethical means.
The Congress leader also ridiculed KTR’s claims of TRS retaining power in next elections. He said the next elections would be a ‘Dharma Yuddham’ (war for righteousness) between the TRS and Congress and people would certainly support the Congress party.
He said caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s decision to advance the Assembly polls by nine months was itself an indication that TRS has accepted its imminent defeat. He said KCR dissolved the Assembly in haste after he sensed that the popularity of Congress party was on the rise across Telangana State.
By doing so, he said KCR deprived himself of ruling the State for almost one-and-a-half years. He said KCR was unable to rule for the first six months and he lost another nine months by advancing the polls.
Reacting on KTR’s comments on the Congress party’s possible alliance with TDP, Sravan alleged that KCR was trying to incite regional feelings to cover up his failures and avoid an imminent defeat.
He said KCR was having a dual stand on Chandrababu Naidu. He said KCR had praised TDP chief when it favoured him and now he is attacking the same person for political reasons.
“KCR must answer why Chandrababu naidu is not viewed as anti-Telangna when KCR and company visited his house in Amaravathi and had sumptuous lunch,” he asked.
Sravan also questioned why Chandrababu Naidu was invited by KCR to his Chandi Yagam, if he was anti Telangana. Why these double standards? He said it was strange that KCR likes Andhra contractors, but hates people of Andhra and their leaders.
