Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has expressed his resolve to hold ‘Chalo Sircilla’ rally on Monday in protest against the alleged torture of Dalits and BCs by the police.
Although the local police have denied permission to the Congress party to hold meeting at Sircilla Government Junior College Grounds, the party is expecting a positive decision from the High Court.
The Congress party had moved a House Motion in the High Court on Saturday seeking permission to hold public meeting at the proposed venue.
Meanwhile, former Speaker of Lok Sabha Meira Kumar has reached Hyderabad on Sunday night. She was accorded a warm welcome at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport by Uttam Kumar Reddy, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other leaders.
From the airport, she directly proceeded to Karimnagar where she would be doing the night halt and participate in the ‘Chalo Sircilla’ agitation on Monday. (INN)
