Hyderabad: Several Congress leaders including former minister Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and ex-MLA Jagga Reddy were arrested by the police when they held demonstration at Sangareddy Collectorate on Tuesday in protest against suspension of Ameenpur Sarpanch Srinivas Goud.
Tension prevailed for several hours when the Congress party tried to mobilise a massive dharna at the Collectorate. The Congress workers entered into a heated argument with the police personnel who later foiled the dharna by taking all activists into custody.
Speaking to media persons, Jagga Reddy alleged that Ameenpur Sarpanch was suspension for attending Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting.
He said elected representatives were free to participate in political meetings. However, he said Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao was acting in vengeance and targeting Congress leaders. (INN)
