Nalgonda: The Congress party on Sunday reiterated that the Telangana Government order a CBI probe into the murder of Boduppali Srinivas, Congress senior leader and husband of Nalgonda chairperson B. Laxmi.
Addressing a condolence meeting at MNR Convention Centre in Nalgonda, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the TRS Government of hushing up the case.
He said that the resistance being shown by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in ordering an independent probe into the murder case clearly indicates that he was trying to shield the real culprits. He reiterated that Srinivas’ killing was a political murder conspired by TRS leaders.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said Srinivas had been expressing fear for his life since a long time. He said Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkatreddy took Srinivas and his Laxmi to the Chief Minister, senior police officials, district collector and SP seeking protection.
He said neither gunmen were provided nor was he provided an arms’ license. He said that the conspirators were given an open chance to kill Srinivas.
The TPCC chief said it was total inhuman on the part of KCR to remain silent on such a brutal murder. “The Chief Minister did not even express condolence over the murder of husband of a Municipal Chairperson. District Incharge Minister (Jagadish Reddy) had no courtesy to pay a visit to Laxmi. This is highly regrettable and intolerable,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Srinivas belonged to Most Backward Classes and his brutal murder and the way it was hushed up shows that the BCs, Dalits, Girijans and minorities were not safe in Telangana. He said that after the incident, a delegation of Congress senior leaders met DGP Mahender Reddy seeking a fair probe.
However, the next day Nalgonda SP Srinivas Rao addressed a press conference calling the murder as a result of minor tussle. “TRS Government taps the phones of all opposition leaders, but it refuses to take the call data of accused in Srinivas murder case,” he alleged adding that the police was trying to give a clean chit to TRS MLA Veeresham without even conducting any enquiry.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would not rest until real culprits are exposed. He also demanded suspension of Nalgonda SP. He also warned the TRS Government of serious consequences if Congress workers are targeted anywhere in Telangana State.
AICC Secretary R.C. Khuntia said that the Congress party would take up the issue at the national level. He said he would speak to AICC President Rahul Gandhi about this and the issue would be raised in the Parliament.
He said that Rahul Gandhi would write to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking CBI probe into the incident. He said that the best way to take revenge of Srinivas murder would be defeating TRS in next elections.
Congress Legislature Party leader K. Jana Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Council Shabbir Ali, ex-PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao, MLAs Komatireddy Venkatreddy, A. Revanth Reddy, Vamshichand Reddy, MLC Rajagopal Reddy and other senior leaders also addressed the meeting. (INN)
