Hyderabad: The Congress party has ridiculed the findings of a survey conducted by a private new channel stating that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was enjoying the backing of 75% people and he would retain power.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy, along with TPCC Vice-President Dr. Mallu Ravi, General Secretary G. Niranjan and others, described the survey as completely fabricated and fake.
He said that the agency which conducted the survey has claimed that its sample size was of just 6,877 people. “Is it not ridiculous to say that 75% of 4 crore Telangana people were supporting KCR while the agency had done telephonic interviews with just 6,500 people? It is highly regrettable that an organisation like India Today has released the bogus survey report.
Renowned journalist Rajdeep Sardesai was earlier known for credibility and integrity. However, by coming up with biased surveys, Rajdeep has brought disrepute to the entire profession of journalism,” he said.
Gudur Narayana Reddy alleged that Rajdeep Sardesai should’ve exposed the failures of government and used his reporting skills to get justice for the people. However, by coming up with a fabricated survey to save sinking boat of KCR, Rajdeep has distorted his own image.
He said the survey findings were acceptable if the agency would’ve approached at least one to 1.5 lakh people. However, the views of a sample size of just 6,877 people could not be called as views of entire State of Telangana.
The Congress leader said that the findings of India Today’s survey were released only after ABP News channel and C-Voters came up with their findings predicting victory for Congress party in Telangana. He said ABP-C Voters have interviewed 1% of the total population to arrive at the figure of 64 seats for Congress.
He said these findings were quite similar to the independent surveys conducted by the Congress party. Just to counter these findings, the India Today, came up with a cooked up survey predicting TRS victory, he alleged.
Gudur Narayana Reddy claimed that the Grand Alliance of Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI would win at least 80-85 seats and nothing could prevent Congress party from forming the next government. (INN)
