Congress suspends ex-Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana

Hyderabad: The Congress on Sunday suspended former Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana from the party for making objectionable remarks against the top leadership.

Sarve Satyanarayana reportedly made serious allegations against AICC Incharge R.C. Khuntia and TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy during a review meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday morning. He blamed Khuntia and Uttam for party’s defeat in recently held Telangana Assembly elections.

He also hurled a water bottle at TPCC General Secretary Bollu Kishan when the latter entered into an argument over his inappropriate remarks against top leaders.

Taking a serious note of Sarve’s behaviour, the TPCC Disciplinary Committee took a decision to suspend him from the party on immediate basis.

Sarve Satyanarayana was elected as MP from Siddipet in 2004 and Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat in 2009. He had also served as Union Minister in the cabinet of Dr. Manmohan Singh.

However, he lost elections in 2014 from Malkajgiri Parliamentary seat. He was also defeated in the by-elections for Warangal Lok Sabha seat in 2015. In the 2018 Assembly elections, he contested from Secunderabad Cantonment seat and lost to TRS. (INN)
