Hyderabad: The New Academic Year began at Maulana Azad National Urdu University here on Tuesday with Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, welcoming the students and asking them to create an atmosphere of respect and tolerance among each other.
“You should keep in mind that Urdu is not only a language of communication but also a refined dimension of culture and common heritage. Mastering its usage will add a new feather to your personality and enhance chances of employability,” he said.
Addressing the students at the spacious auditorium of the Distance Education Complex, the Vice-Chancellor described MANUU as a unique global institution that nurtures young minds and prepares them for a bright future.
The Vice-Chancellor asked students to shun anger because it breeds dissatisfaction and indiscipline. “The University is trying to provide all possible facilities and will always be prepared to listen to your grievance.”
But, he said, it would not tolerate indiscipline. “Stern action will be taken against those who indulge in rule breaking and spreading unrest,” he cautioned.
While emphasising the importance of Urdu as the language of instruction at the University, the Vice-Chancellor asked students to avail of the teaching and other facilities for learning and improving upon English.
Dr. Parvaiz informed the audience that the University is constructing a new hostel for girls and adding more space to the existing ones.
The Vice-Chancellor introduced key faculty members of University and also gave students a bird’s eye view of the campus with its facilities, buildings and landscape. (INN)
