Cricketer Mithali Raj felicitated

Hyderabad: Kasturba Gandhi Junior College for Women felicitated Mithali Raj, captain of the Indian women’s’ cricket team in a grand way on her achievement and congratulated her on surpassing 6,000 runs in one day format of the game.

Mithali Raj, who is alumni of Kasturba Gandhi Junior College and an ‘Arjuna’ and ‘Padma Shri’ awards recipient, is the only female cricketer in the world who has achieved this distinction.

Mithali Raj presented mementos to International and National sports persons who represented from Kasturba Gandhi Junior College and freely interacted with students of the college on this occasion.

She also presented a memento to V Meghna who secured second rank at State level in HEC stream.

Commemorating the occasion, M Hyder, Secretary, announced ‘Mithali Raj Sports Scholarship’ which will be awarded to the outstanding sports girl of the college. K. Sanskruthi of MPC stream (2nd year) is the recipient of this award for the current year.

Osmania Graduates Association President P. Harinath Reddy was the chief guest of the function and Exhibition Society Vice President N Surender was the Guest of Honour.

The other dignitaries who participated in the felicitation programme include Chair Dr. NVN Charyulu, Vice Chairman P Chandrakala, Treasurer Ajay Kumar and Kasturba Gandhi Junior College for Women Principal Pratima Reddy. (INN)
