Hyderabad: Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender said that the Telangana Government was contemplating to issue food security cards.

He said the data of all the National Food Security Act/State Food Security Cards of all 31 districts of Telangana State was being placed in public domain to enable the cardholders to view and download the cards at the earliest.

In his reply to a question raised by MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao and Y. Anjaiah during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the minister said the government was also planning to reorganise and rationalise fair price shops to serve the consumers effectively.

He said in old 10 districts, 891 Fair Price Shops have come up for rationalisation.

Regarding the computerisation of Fair Price Shops, Eatala said e-POS was presently being implemented in 1545 Fair Prices Shops in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area.

He said that the government has decided to roll out the ePos in all the remaining 16,000 Fair Price Shops in the State. The tenders have been finalised and the System Integrator has been selected. The entire process is expected to be completely by June this year, he said. (INN)
