Dattatraya directs GHMC to rehabilitate 50 families of Mangar Basti

Hyderabad: Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to provide alternative residential accommodation to the inmate of two dilapidated buildings in Mangar Basthi.

In his letter to GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, the Union Minister said on Sunday he had conducted padayatra in Mangar Basthi of Mallepally division of Nampally Assembly constituency.

He said he was shocked to see two very old buildings which are in very dangerous and dilapidated conditions and may collapse at any time. “The lives of about 50 families are at great risk. There is an urgent need to evacuate them from the premises,” he said.

Dattatraya said although the GHMC served a notice to the residents of the buildings, no alternative accommodation was shown to them due to which the residents continued to stay in the buildings.

“I would like to draw your urgent attention on this grave situation and risk and arrange to provide alternative residential accommodation,” he directed the GHMC chief. (INN)
