Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari said that the State Government would take a decision on increasing the remuneration of contract lectures of Polytechnic and Degree colleges in the next 15 days.
Replying to a question raised by MLA Payam Venkateswarulu and Thati Venkateswarlu in State Legislative Assembly during Question Hour on Friday, the Deputy CM informed that the State Government has already increased the remuneration of 3,687 contract lecturers of 402 junior colleges from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 27,000.
He said the file pertaining to increase in remuneration of contract lecturers of degree and polytechnics was under the consideration of Finance Department. He said that the demand of contract lecturers’ for payment of DA could not be considered as they were regular employees.
The Deputy CM said that the process to regularise the services of contract lectures was also initiated by the government.
However, he said that the process got delayed after some students of Osmania University approach the High Court. He said that the TRS, in its election manifesto, had promised to regularise the services of all contract employees and it was firm on fulfilling the promise.
Stating that the government was taking all measures to strengthen the education system, he said principals of all colleges have been authorised to hire the services of Guest Lecturers whenever required. (INN)
