Encroachment demolition: Officials told to act tough

Hyderabad: The GHMC’s demolition of illegal nalas in Hyderabad gained momentum in the last two days despite resistance from the property owners.

The State government has formed 24 teams with officials from various departments including GHMC, revenue, irrigation and police.

Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao asked the GHMC officials not to entertain any recommendation from anyone.

The officials should not succumb to pressure from any quarter, the minister told the top GHMC officials at a review meeting along with Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma at Secretariat here in the capital on Tuesday.

The Chief Secretary assured the GHMC officials that the government would extend all help in repairing the roads in the city.

He directed the GHMC officials to draft engineers from other departments to strengthen the GHMC engineering department. KTR thanked the Chief Secretary for sending engineers from other departments to the GHMC. (INN)
