Hyderabad: A 33-member delegates group from 18 countries visited Civil Supplies Bhavan to study on work style of Civil Supplies Department. They enquired about the successful implementation of policies by the department for providing food security to poor, payments to farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
They also enquired how and at what extent these policies can be implemented in their countries.
Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India sponsored ‘Leadership Development for Enhanced Public Services Delivery’ program, which welcomes future leadership positions.
Under this program 33 members from Libya, Tajikistan, Kenya, Tanzania, Bhutan, Mongolia, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Cambodia, Nigeria, Fiji, Egypt, Armenia, Botswana, St. Lucia, El-Salvador countries visited Civil Supplies Bhavan on Wednesday and held a meeting Commissioner for Civil Supplies Department Akun Sabharwal.
Foreign delegates visited Command Control Centre and checked the performance of CC Cameras in Godowns, GPS enables ration goods transport vehicles, ePoS, IRIS machine, Portability and T-Ration App. They also visited Fair Price Shop situated in Panjagutta to see the ration transactions.
They appreciated Civil Supplies Department on the implementation of new technology and success achieved. They also praised on the steps taken by department for giving better service to people in paddy procurement and public distribution system.
Commissioner Akun Sabharwal said that Telangana is the youngest state in India. In the last year it has purchased 76.24 lakh metric tons of paddy from 14.69 lakh farmers at MSP Rs. 1770 per quintal and paid Rs. 12,800 crores to farmers. Paddy procurement is done by Women Self Help Groups and all the transactions are made totally paper free with the help of Tabs.
Every eligible beneficiary is given 6 kgs of rice at Rs. 1 per kilo. State wide total 2.80 crores beneficiaries are there and every month 1.50 lakh tons of rice is been distributed by Civil Supplies Department.
He said department has implemented new technology methods like ePOS, IRIS, CC cameras, Portability, GPS, Whats App and succeeded in gaining good results by giving better services to people.
On 22nd of this month another foreign delegates group is going to visit Civil Supplies Department. (INN)
