Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad District Electoral Officer M. Dana Kishore said that to create awareness about the working of EVMs and VVPATs 50 Static and 4 Mobile Centres have been arranged at the important centres like Necklace Road, Tank Bund, KBR Park, Charminar, Secunderabad, Begumpet, Jubilee Hills, Golkonda and other areas.
He said that the campaign was aimed at enlightening citizens to have a clear idea of the working conditions of the EVMs and VVPATS and also how to cast their vote and to know whom they have voted whether the system is working properly and the voter will know whom he voted etc.,
in turn the citizens can explain about the process of voting to their family members, friends, etc., so as to enable the citizens to cast their vote without any inconvenience.
The DEO said nearly 10,000 people have visited the above centres in the last one week and acquainted them about the process of voting and working of EVMs and VVPATS.
Now the existing 4 mobile vehicles will be strengthened further by deploying six more mobile vehicles for awareness purpose said Hari Chandana, Zonal Commissioner.
After the Dussehra holidays the GHMC is planning to take up such awareness campaigns in all Degree and Professional Colleges where students will be given a demo about the working of EVMs and VVPATS.
The information with regard to Mobile vehicles the officials are keeping the information on the website for the convenience of the citizens today all the 15 Returning Officers have taken up awareness campaigns in their jurisdiction and these centre will work from 10 AM to 5PM everyday said the DEO.
