Heavy rains continue to batter TS

Hyderabad: Indian meteorological department (IMD) on Thursday predicted moderate to heavy rains for Telangana in the next week due to the prevailing low pressure in Bay of Bengal.

Meanwhile heavy rainfall wrecked havoc in Hyderabad and other parts of the state on Thursday as well. Water logging and overflowing drains was a common sight on almost every major road in the city.

GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that the Hussain Sagar reached the full tank capacity as rains continued throughout the day. The GHMC has sought the help of National Disaster Response Force for relief operations.

Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K Tarakarama Rao visited Nizampet and other neighbouring areas that were battered by torrential rains on Wednesday.

He visited the affected people and directed the officials to extend all help in the relief measures.

Traffic police issued advisory to the commuters to postpone their travel plans warning people of water logging and heavy traffic jams at major roads in the city.
