Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) vice president Shehla Rashid addressed students and teachers gathered in a protest against BJP government’s unprecedented assault on campus democracy on Sunday.
Commenting about Shehla’s address, Dr. Lubna Sarwath said that the best part of her talk was when she said that even ABVP students or any other students should not be arrested under sedition charges.
Dr. Lubna, who contested for Hyderabad MP seat on AAP ticket in 2014 general elections, lauded Shehla for her bravery and statement that sedition section should itself be repealed because it seeks blind obedience to the government which is utterly undemocratic.
In addition, Dr. Lubna recalled Kanhaiya Kumar’s speech wherein he reportedly said that he pities the ABVP and RSS and is not angry with them. “He spoke of his vision for the country where every citizen should be empowered.”
“Both of you gave very matured speeches with no trace of polarisation leave apart anti-nationalism. Both speaking up for humanity, truth, justice, peace and upholding constitution,” remarked Dr. Lubna.
“We haven’t heard such conviction and such dil/mann ki baat from any of our current parliamentarians including the Pramukh Sewak,” she added.
“We from Hyderabad appreciate yours and Kanhaiya’s call for sacrifice, uprightness and wish you both and your likes as future leaders entering the Parliament of India soon. we are in the struggle too.”
