IMD forecasts heavy rains in Telangana for two days

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecasted heavy rains in the following two days in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Komaram Bheem, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Mahabubabad, Malugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts of Telangana.

For the next two days, it also forecast light to moderate to heavy rain or thunderstorms in the area. The IMD also cautioned that rainwater in low-lying areas could inundate the roads. This encouraged people to have their movement limited.

Mahesh Palawat, the head of Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, said heavy rain will be raining in northern Telangana districts for the next 24 hours.

“After 24 hours the level will decline. The cloud will be heading towards Chhattisgarh because of the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. Southern districts get moderate rain, and the intensity will be very low tomorrow after tomorrow, “he said.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, Lingampally received 34 mm of rains, the highest in the city. Alur in Nizamabad district received the highest rainfall of 171 mm in the state.

It also said that the state’s 153 mandals received 20 to 59 per cent excess rainfall. Around 83 Mandals have received rainfall of over 60 per cent. 90 Mandals, meanwhile, witnessed a deficit in the heat. (INN)
