Jagan Mohan Reddy sworn in as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, 46, took the oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at a grand ceremony held at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada at 12.23 pm on Thursday.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan administered the oath to Jagan amid thunderous cheers by scores of party leaders and workers in the presence of several dignitaries including Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, DMK chief M K Stalin and Puducherry Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao.

Jagan’s mother and YSRCP Honorary President Y.S. Vijayamma, wife Bharathi, sister Sharmila and other members of the family were specially seated on the dais.

After taking over as CM, Jagan signed the first file to increase the pension of elderly people from Rs 1000 to Rs 2250. He had promised to increase the pension by Rs 250 year on year.

Speaking on the occasion, Telangana CM KCR hoped that Andhra Pradesh would prosper under the leadership of Jagan Mohan Reddy and offered full cooperation and support on behalf of Telangana State. (INN)
