Hyderabad: Stating that the Telangana Government had so far spent Rs. 13300 crore on National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has directed the officials to take steps for immediate release of NREGS dues and material.
The minister conducted a review meeting with the senior officials in the office of Commissioner for Rural Development here on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commission Anita Ramchandran, Deputy Commission Rama Rao, Joint Commissioners Saidulu and Wesley.
Speaking on the occasion, Jupally informed that the Centre has sanctioned 10 Crore mandays under NREGS this year. He said that the Centre has been asked to increase the mandays by another 6 crore.
He asked the officials to address the factors which are delaying payment for NREGS workers. He also asked them to use bio-metric systems for payments.
The minister said that NREGS funds could be utilised for protecting of saplings which were planted under Haritha Haram programme.
He said a target of construction of three lakh individual toilets has been set this year under the NREGS scheme.
Jupally also asked the officials to make arrangements for establishment of PR&RD offices in new proposed districts. (INN)
