Kavitha organises organ donation drive on KCR’s birthday

Hyderabad: On the eve of Telangana Cheif Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao‘s birthday Jeevan Daan (organ donation) programme was successfully launched by Nizamabad MP K kavitha and MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar today at Peoples plaza, Hyderabad.

Program was held in all 31 districts of Telangana.

The Motto of programme is to create awareness among the public for organ donation which saves many lives. Former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Musheerabad MLA Mutha Gopal. MLA Kranthi Kiran, T News CEO Narayan Reddy, Katta Sekhar Reddy from Namasthe Telangana also participated in the program.

Under this program 50,000 donors are to be enrolled in this one year campaign.

Telangana Jagruthi Health wing Incharge Dr. Preethi Reddy said, “One person donating organs can save 8 lives. Despite so much of advancements in science, organs cannot be created de novo and can only be donated from another human.

There is so much of dearth of organs and thousands of children and adults are dying due to lack of organs. Not everybody is fortunate to get donors in relations.

There is utmost need for organs as there is a huge gap in the numbers of those needing organs. Aggressive awareness and organ donation campaign can help so many lives.”

The speakers created awareness to public that one need to do blood donation program very often for every gap cycle of 120 days.

As a tribute and respect to our great Pulwama martyrs incident, the leaders & the audience maintained a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect followed by programme started after which everyone took the pledge for the Jeevan Daan (organ donation program).

It is realised that people want to donate organs but they are unaware whom to approach for the process.

“Ease of process and awareness among public is important that organ donation can save someone’s life,” said Telangana Jagruthi vice president Rajeev Sagar. (INN)
