Hyderabad: Caretaker Chief Minister and TRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao has blamed the ‘intolerant opposition’, especially Congress for his decision to dissolve the Telangana Legislative Assembly and seek early polls nine months ahead of their schedule.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, KCR justified his move to dissolve State Assembly. He said he wanted to protect Telangana from getting destabilized by an intolerant opposition, especially the Congress, and also to ensure uninterrupted development process in the State.
He described Congress as the biggest enemy of Telangana. Right from blaming former Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, KCR went to the extent of calling Congress president Rahul Gandhi as “biggest buffoon”.
He said the previous Congress regimes of united Andhra Pradesh subjected Telangana to huge injustices in terms of funds, electricity and other resources.
He said both Congress and TDP governments accorded step-motherly treatment to Telangana and starved the region of development.
KCR claimed that the TRS Government brought a revolutionary change in all aspects that turned Telangana into a power surplus. He said now farmers are being supplied power for 24 hours without any interruptions.
He accused the Congress leaders of carrying out ‘misinformation campaign’ over Telangana’s power agreement with neighbouring Chattisgardh. He even called Congress leaders ‘idiots’ to condemn their criticism.
He also accused the Congress of causing obstructions in the construction of various developmental projects, especially the irrigation projects.
The TRS president also listed out various programmes implemented by his government during the last four-and-a-half years. He claimed that his government has fulfilled 99.9% of poll promises besides implementing 76 new schemes like Kalyana Laxmi and Rythu Bandhu which were not promised in election manifesto.
He said despite Telangana emerging as role model for the entire country, the local Congress leaders levelled baseless allegations of corruption against the ruling party. He said that the opposition, especially Congress did not notice that Telangana had achieved economic growth rate of 21.96% during this month alone.
KCR also contended that Telangana became a reality due to the sacrifices and struggle of youth and students and it was not gifted by Congress party and Sonia Gandhi.
Calling all Congress leaders ‘sycophants’ who wait at the doors of Delhi bosses for hours, he said people of Telangana should not become “Ghulams” (slaves) or indulge in “Ghulamgiri” (slavery) of Delhi leaders.
He also announced that although TRS would contest the next elections alone, it would maintain a friendly alliance with the MIM. He also made it clear that the TRS would not ally with the BJP or any other party.
