Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and MLA D.K. Aruna on Friday accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of granting contracts worth several crores to an irrigation firm.
Addressing a press conference here, Aruna alleged that the Chief Minister had given contracts worth Rs. 49.98 crore on nomination basis to Netafim Irrigation Pvt Ltd. She said that the same firm had developed KCR’s farm house at Erravelli.
Instead of calling open tenders, the State Government granted irrigation projects in Erravelli and Narasannnapet to Netafim. Further, GO MS. No. 47 & 48 pertaining to these contracts were kept confidential. She said that the Congress party has procured those GOs under RTI.
Aruna also slammed KCR for appointing Praveen Rao as the Vice-Chancellor of Agriculture University. She alleged that Praveen Rao had acted as mediator in getting the contracts for Netafim. She demanded a Vigilance Enquiry into the contracts and asked the TRS Government disclose complete details of the proposed projects. (INN)
