Hyderabad: Congress on Tuesday lambasted the state government accusing it of adopting a negligent attitude towards the public health.
Speaking to reporters here , TPCC working president Bhatti Vikramarka said that with a span of one month over 21 deaths have been reported due to Dengue in Khammam district alone and hundreds of people have been affected with the fever, but the government is yet o wake up.
He alleged that instead of taking up measures to fight Dengue, the CM is relaxing at this farmhouse.
He said that in the absence of any medical help from the state government, the people in villages are selling their properties to pay for medical expenses.
The people of Ravinuthala village in Bonakal mandal have to shell out Rs 10 crore to meet medical expenses, he said.
He said that it was unfortunate that the government had directed the entire official machinery to serve the interests of ministers and legislators of the ruling party rather than concentrating on the public welfare, the Congress leader said.
Demanding the state government to announce medical emergency and take up medical aid at war footing in Dengue affected villages in Khammam district, the Congress leader said that he would soon write to the Governor and the Chief Minister of the state to apprise them of the situation in villages reeling under Dengue fever.
The Congress leader took a dig at the Governor saying that despite the people of the state are suffering due to various issues, the Governor was appreciated the state administration. (INN)
