Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to the noted freedom fighter, former minister and Telangana Leader late Konda Lakshman Bapuji on his 102nd Birth Anniversary on Wednesday.
Finance Minister Etala Rajender, Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna, Legislative Council chairman Swamy Goud, MPs Bandaru Dattatreya and B.B. Patil, BJP State President Dr. K. Lakshman, MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy, MBC Corporation chairman T. Srinivas and other dignitaries attended the official celebrations held at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium today.
Speaking on the occasion, Etala said that several schemes were being implemented by the State Government for development of all sections of the society to fulfill the dreams of Bapuji. He recalled the role played by Bapuji in second phase of Telangana statehood agitation.
MLC Sudhakar Reddy demanded that one irrigation project in Adilabad district should be named after Konda Laxman Bapuji. BJP leader Lakshman said representation would be made with the Centre for issuing a commemorative postal stamp on Bapuji.
He also demanded that the contribution of Bapuji in Telangana formation should be included in the school syllabus from next academic year. (INN)
