In reviewing the rain situation with officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and other agencies, officials were ordered to cancel leave for all workers for the next two weeks.
The city has reported 54 cm of rainfall in the last 10 days, he said, asking officials to carry out ground-level inspections in order to take stock of the situation.
Emphasis should be put on road repairs that have been damaged due to rainfall, while sanitation work should be stepped up once the rains have subsided, he said.
The Minister also ordered officials to locate and immediately demolish buildings in dilapidated condition and other poor structures. The demolition of old buildings that have already been found should be expedited.
Guidelines must be given to private contractors for the implementation of various safety measures at construction sites and fences to protect pits dug as part of various development projects in the region.
Special teams should be deployed at established water logging points, the Minister said, adding that 170 teams were working to deal with emergency situations during the monsoon.
He also requested officials to draw up an action plan to fix damaged roads after the monsoon. (INN)
