Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama RAo on Tuesday said that the State Government was very keen to take up the prestigious project of double bed room houses for weaker sections in Hyderabad on priority basis.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has recently held review meetings with Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma and other senior officials including Collectors of Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad with regard to housing.
The Minister said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was having around 1400 identified slums in its limits. The government will take up 25,000 houses in the first phase in 78 identified slums.
The target of construction of 1 lakh double bed room houses would be taken up on priority and it will be completed at the earliest, he said.
KTR directed the officials to identify the government lands in Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts to take up double bed room houses in the near future.
He said meetings were already held with builders and cement manufacturers seeking their help in completing the weaker section houses.
The minister said that the State Government would take up the works of white topping of roads in a stretch of 100 kilometers. (INN)
